Shopping for a Swim Spa? Here are some questions to ask:
Q. Am I buying from a reputable company?

Q. Does the Swim Spa have sufficient room for swimming, or is it just a big spa
pool?
A. Many spas that are available have compromised the swim area by incorporating up to 10 seating
positions. This means that there is little tolerance for side to side movement without the risk of

Q. Is the Swim Spa well insulated?
A. Ask the sales person to remove a side panel. Swim spas, because of the volume of water they
hold, should have 100-150mm of insulation beneath the cabinet, otherwise your power bills could go
through the roof!
Q. Does the swim spa have adequate structural support?
A. The average swim spa holds around 6-7 tonnes of water. The swim spa should have a steel frame
that not only supports the lip of the spa, but also the sides, to stop lateral movement.
Q. How many swim jets are ideal?
A. We have worked with professional swimmers including gold medalist, Kelly Stubbins, to ascertain
the answer to this question. We have found that 4 jets are optimal for experienced swimmers. If the
swim spa will only be used for water walking or breath stroke, 2 jets will be sufficient.
Q. Do the pumps move enough water to swim against?
Monarch Aquacise Extreme swim spas use 4 x 5.2bhp pumps to power the swim jets. For an
experienced swimmer, any less will have you over powering the jets and swimming into the wall of
the spa.
